How Parasites Affect Pets and Families
Parasites do more than cause discomfort; they carry disease, disrupt daily life, and put both pets and people at risk.
Cat and Dog Flea, Tick, and Heartworm Prevention Options
We offer a range of preventive products designed to fit different lifestyles, preferences, and budgets. During your appointment, we'll discuss your pet's risk factors — indoor vs. outdoor lifestyle, travel habits, exposure to wooded areas — and recommend the option that provides the best protection.
Topical Treatments
Applied directly to the skin, topical preventives protect against fleas, ticks, and in some formulations, heartworm and intestinal parasites. They're effective, easy to administer, and ideal for pets who don't tolerate oral medications well.
Oral Chewables
Oral preventives come in flavored chews that most pets take willingly. Options are available for flea and tick prevention alone, heartworm prevention alone, or combination formulas that cover fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal parasites in a single dose.
Long-Acting Injectable Prevention
For dogs whose families prefer less frequent dosing, injectable preventives that provide 6- or 12-month protection against heartworms or fleas and ticks are available. It's particularly useful for pets who are difficult to medicate at home or families who travel frequently.
Flea and Tick Collars
Veterinary-grade collars provide months of continuous protection against fleas and ticks, releasing active ingredients gradually over time. They're convenient for pets who resist oral or topical treatments and offer reliable coverage throughout the season.
